Son excellent film consacré à Pierre Pinoncelli (« L’artiste à la phalange coupée ») ayant remporté l’an dernier le Grand Prix du MIFAC, le réalisateur Virgile Novarina sera donc le Président du Jury du MIFAC lors de l’édition qui se tiendra à Angoulême dans 15 jours.
Né en 1976, Virgile Novarina a tourné plusieurs documentaires sur les artistes (« Jean-Olivier Hucleux, du travail à l’œuvre » ou encore « Télescope intérieur, une œuvre spatiale d'Eduardo Kac ») mais il est aussi et surtout un artiste explorant le sommeil profond par des écrits, dessins, photos et vidéos.
Virgile Novarina a exploré le sommeil, il y a trouvé quelque chose qui n'était pas du rêve, quelque chose de presque insaisissable qu'il veut néanmoins saisir, qu'il veut enregistrer, dont il veut garder une trace. Sa démarche au départ tient moins de la recherche poétique que de l'exploration, et le résultat est d'abord la mise en évidence d'un phénomène physiologique. (Source Wikipédia)..
Il sera secondé au MIFAC par la journaliste Marie-Jo Latorre, le galeriste Gilles Naudin, le "coach en cinéma" Laurie Leuillette et la sculptrice Anne Bothuon.
